It seems like, the healthcare debate is still on.
How can the go without some reform, in the healthcare section? The premium cost is out of the reach of -- one fourth of the Californian residents. 24.3% of under 65 are not covered, according to the UCLA study. The government must cover them anyway. And when they do, it would be better if they do not have to declare bankruptcy -- is that the way now to deal with the healthcare cost? Would they not be afraid of losing the coverage when they change their jobs?
It is it up to, the party, ultimately, unless some of them would like to win as an independent, I suppose. The tens of millions of people need to be covered, would this sell well? Why, if not? The voices of people who aren't covered, does that not give any impact on the US audiences at all? How is it like to go bankrupt? It is the number one suicide causes besides the health concerns.
The insurance companies, they must have had -- something that set the minds of people in the States to make them believe that they would pay for the health of clients, not for profits. But they want to make money. They do make money. The top five insurance companies filed earnings of $12.2 billion while dropping coverage of the 2.7 million. The higher the premium, the less money they give, the more they make money. It is not about damaged cars. It is about the health, life. They can not -- should not -- close the market and threaten people to pay for their life.
They are to have insurance after decades of debates. The average life expectancy is shorter in the States -- 75.4 years for male, 80.7 for female in 2006, perhaps for obvious reasons (OECD average 76.2 years for male, 81.8 years for female, 2006). Will you pay hundreds of dollars just for catching cold? And that cold might just kill the person. The private insurance companies, their purpose is profit making. What WOULD you do in such cases? You will find reasons for not paying. There are chances that they lose their coverage at any time of their life since they do change their jobs frequently. And the premiums are up. How could you pay for the premium when you are not paid?
Who are opposing the bill? The air is so strained. My hope is that it passes soon so that they can be reasonable again. I am hoping that they would then be more concerned about the things outside the US -- since the world needs them.
