The former prime minister was popular in rural area for his populist agenda, and was charged with corruption cases. He was accused of wrong doings in selling his company Shin corporation to Singapore company Temasek Holdings. Last month, 60% of his assets were seized by the order of the court, 10% equivalent to around $30 million out of which just were taken out for unknown purposes. They say, the protesters are being paid and organized by Taksin Shinawatra.
Negotiations between the government and the protesters are expected on Sunday.
