A shock of such kind, can mix up all thoughts on all other things into chaos. When you encounter the unknown, the acts of people for unknown reasons in unfamiliar ways. The natural course of thinking the way it is and how you perceive the world, where the society is to protect human lives not to kill the defined enemies. They say, there is no right war, nor wrong peace. How do you justify an act of collective murder where people are in different lands, living in harmony under different religious orders?
The WikiLeaks has it open to public, the video of US soldiers shooting at Iraqi people, including Reuters staffs. The WikiLeaks page accuses of the shooting as indiscriminate slaying. The Reuters photographer and the driver were among the casualties where more than a dozen people were shot to death. The incident happens in 2007, and the video was released is on April 5. The video clip were on TV around April 7. The video is much talked about, and many comment it in the blogs.
The video footage of the soldiers show them finding the AK-47 and the camera that Reuters staff had. The soldiers took as a RPG. They follow them to the place they can shoot at, then with the machine gun, shot at them. One of them said "Good shootin'". When the driver escaped from the scene, they followed the injured. There they hesitated to shoot the injured. A voice said "All you have to do is to pick up a weapon". A car came and tried to rescue him. Now they took it as they are picking up weapons. They shot them all together. They killed the injured and the people tried to rescue him. The footage is vivid, with their voices recorded, voices of them joking on tanks going over dead bodies.
They are sober. The voices sound sober and show judgment based upon not any sorts of confusion but clear thinking for efficiency, effective ways to kill as many as possible at the least cost possible. In cold blood, they killed the people from distance, kilometers away from the scene. Some commented it is like a video game, it looks that far away, they do not show fear for the danger that might encounter in the shooting. They count the bodies from distance, those people who they have killed. The scene of the dead bodies are horrifying. The voice says "Nice".
The reaction to the video varies. Some commented it lunatic, crazy, or reality. The lunacy must be stopped. Despicable, inhuman, can not figure out why, why are they there in the first place?
My embarrassment stems from the fact that now that I know what they do, it is going to be hard to say "drop your arms, they are not going to do you harm, follow them and you will have a good life". Do they forget at all? How could they make the distinction of their murders from the other? But essentially that is what they must say, and show it to the people there, in order to restore orders and gain the confidence of people.
