Quarry

New England was known for granite and marble production. Indeed, the state of New Hampshire is also known as "Granite State". A quarry is a place for cutting such stones. When the company went into bankruptcy in 1929, the trustee, and then a private company bought the site. In 1981, the state of Massachusetts and the Trustees of Reservations bought the site and made it into a state park. In recent years, there are only hundreds of quarries in the States, and more than 50% of those stones are imported from Brasil, Mexico, China, India, Spain, Italy, Portuguese, Taiwan, etc. The famous Taj Mahal of India is made of marble.
