The New Prime Minister of Japan: Naoto Kan

The newly elected DPJ leader Naoto Kan was chosen the new prime minister of Japan on Friday. President Obama to have a talk with the prime minister. The new prime minister Naoto Kan, I believe, is smart enough to steer this nation to pro-western direction, unlike the predecessor whose coalition and the cabinet collapsed over the dispute of the Okinawa US-base relocation problem.

He has been popular and is considered to be attractive, or even charming, and a feminist. He is a leftist and had a hard time under the conservative rule. A grass root activist who fought against the health ministry and won the case of tainted blood case -- by his "popularity", the media exposure, a rare thing in Japan. A lot of scandals, his words picked up by the media, all results of his stance against the bureaucracy, also a popular theme. Exciting news and campaigns are to come, all good in that since there has been none ever since. Or not. If Ozawa to go, that is.
