President Obama in the iftar dinner, a celebration of the Islam religion, on Friday announced his support for religious freedom (President Obama Celebrates Ramadan at White House Iftar Dinner). Most of the Islam nation around the globe entered the month of Ramadan on 11th this year. President said everyone should be free to exercise their own religion and that is the foundation of this nation. President said, as a citizen and as President, he guarantee the freedom of religion. And he said the rights must be respected. Then President expressed his support for the construction of a mosque near ground zero, a very controversial subject, as he himself stated it.
At this point, I practically feel the hostilities of people here who are not accustomed to patience or being held off. President said, he understands the pain and suffering of the people that lost their loved ones by the 9/11 attack and said the pains must have been unimaginable. President said, the terrorists are enemies of Islam as well as of the United States.
This is overwhelmingly saying something beyond the logic that are commonly found around, say they are different and so dangerous. So this is what it is. Diversity in the highly developed nation made it possible to a judgment fair and sound and beyond. Democracy made it to available to us. This is what this nation is.
To me, the speech was simply a surprise beyond description. Insightful was not enough to say what it meant to me. I have not found anything that can describe it.
If there could be stages of democracy in this world, I am not saying what I know of it is over theirs. I see they are far more advanced than what I know of politics. Therefore, I won't be saying "why do they not understand?"
That is to say, I can not fathom what they think of it. In usual case, I would say that irritated them because it is just and right. But they do not show it that way in that I understand.
Their hostilities are more like hatred than what I know as oppositions to some ideas or certain people, or even some groups of people. Their attitudes towards Islam is savage and primitive and touches their identities, among things that binds them besides money transactions. They have this society on top of it.
What have Iraqi people done to them anyway?
But let me be clear. As a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. (Applause.) And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America. And our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country and that they will not be treated differently by their government is essential to who we are. The writ of the Founders must endure.

Our enemies respect no religious freedom. Al Qaeda’s cause is not Islam --- it’s a gross distortion of Islam. These are not religious leaders --- they’re terrorists who murder innocent men and women and children. In fact, al Qaeda has killed more Muslims than people of any other religion --- and that list of victims includes innocent Muslims who were killed on 9/11.This is America, and this is what President is, the President of the United States. President referred to the millions of Americans who practice the Islam religion and those tens of billions of people around the globe who believe in the faith. Their ways of life are at stake.
