Drumlins

The hills in this region are resultant of glacier abrasion called drumlins. The hills are accumulations of glacial tills, or glacial sediments that forms moraine. This type of moraines that without ridges are called ground moraines. The steeper side of the drumlin is called stoss end and the other end that tapers down to ground is called lee slope.

The blue color of glaciers is due to absorption of red light by hydrogen bonds of the water molecules.  The overtones of the symmetrical (v1), bending or scissoring (v2), asymmetrical vibrations (v3) of the bonds combined contribute to red (760 nm, 395 THz), red-orange (660 nm, 455 THz) and orange (605 nm, 496 THz) color absorption, such as 3*v1+v3.
