High expectations and hopes have been always associated with President Obama. I believe, part of the reasons that put him in his office was the high ideals -- and confidence. Winning peace with Islamic nations and states together with reconciliation among the religious groups at home; local prosperity based upon equal economic and political relationships; open discussion on human rights for tortured prisoners. What were lacking in his speech was, however, exactly the themes so cherished around the globe.
The President declared the end of war in Iraq in a prime time nationwide speech, marking the end of combat missions in Iraq. He emphasized that the US's missions are to support Iraqi government and that all the troops will be back by the end of this year. He said, the number of casualties are much less now than before. The President thanked all the troops who have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said, thousands made the ultimate sacrifices and tens of thousands have been suffering from injuries. He said the Afghan troops do whatever it takes to destroy the terrorist organizations in Afghanistan. He then referred to the cost of war that amount to $1 trillion dollars, he said, that could have effectively boosted up our economies if invested in industries, infrastractures and education.
He said, he had a talk with President Bush. What they have talked about is not known.
