Winthrop

Winthrop locates outskirts of Boston, going beyond the Revere beach where we enjoyed so much the summer days under the sun. Revere area is much more like city. If you drive up to Revere beach, suburban shops and shopping malls are abound.

Winthrop is a little more quiet and I can talk to people. When my car battery was up, I could ask my neighbors for help -- things I could not do in Boston. I asked the person driving his car across the street. He went so far as to ask his friend whether he has the necessary equipments. It turned out to be that none has it. My next door neighbor, Vicky, told me she does not have the cables and other equipments but her brother might have it. I continue to ask for the cables when my battery was up. Then an elderly looking man told me -- you can get it at the store down the street. So I went there to get the cable code.

There in the hardware store, among many car parts, there are jump-start cables. There are made in China products and UL approved the US made sturdy cable. I decided to take the US-made cable. I said to the person who works at the store "I just moved in." and she said "Oh, so how do you like it?" I hardly knew how to answer that particular question since it has been such a hectic time I had ever since I got here. I just said "It's hot." She said welcome to Winthrop.

It was a fairly long cable but it turned out to be I had to move the car or do something to connect to another car. I had to ask again. This time, I asked the person who were trying to move the car out in the drive way of the house beyond Vicky and Jane's. I showed him the cable and explained the car has a manual transmission. He looked at the car and said he would find his friend who has a jump-start charger. After some lapse of time while I tried to spread out the cable to figure out how far the cable could reach, he came back with a charger in his hand.

The charger worked miracle after some trials. The engine started and I left it on. I thanked Mike and then went out to the sea after running the engine for a while.
