The APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit ended on Sunday in Yokohama, Tokyo in which the leaders of 21 countries participated in the debate of how to expand free trade and boost investments in the region. The region accounts for more than 50% of the world economies. The Japanese PM Naoto Kan announced the Yokohama Vision which proclaims integrated, strong and secure communities.
Integrated Communities
The plan states to progressively form communities that encompass the whole region, or FTAAP (Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific). To achieve that goal, the smaller groups, "ASEAN + 3", "ASEAN + 6", or TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) nations should first agree on the mutually beneficial issues. Three nations would include Japan, China, or South Korea and six nations adds India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Strong Communities
The plan states by 2015, the nations should take actions towards structural improvement, green economy, technology and jobs creations. It proclaims the participating nations should take actions for opening up the labor market, the governmental aids for new businesses, and the investments for green jobs as well as securing the safety net and offering equal opportunities.
Secure Communities
The plan states its plans for taking actions for food security and disaster and prevention of infectious diseases. The participating nations should take counter-terrorism measures and fight against corruptions such as money laundering.
The vision states APEC nations should freeze any protective measures until 2013, every APEC nation should open its market.

During the summit, the leaders had the chance to speak out on the matter to the world. The series of speeches of the participating nations differ in the way of the language, gestures, and where they put emphasis on the agenda. It is a small world but at the same time, it differs so much.
