President Obama in Indonesia

The President is heading for Indonesia, where certain anti-US sentiments are to be expected. When its GDP is growing at 6% rate, SBY, its president elected in 2009, could bring good news to the US side. It sounds like his stay in Indonesia could be short.

There were protests against the US in Indonesia, but the media is not reporting them. When the US drones are killing Islam 'militants' along with civilians in Pakistan and Yemen, it is a natural reaction. While President Obama is saying the US is not exactly fighting against the Islam as a whole, which indeed is not the case, fighting against terrorism is not enough an explanation for the troops in Afghanistan to crush their militant training camps there. The US military supports to Israel and their settlement in where supposed to be the Palestine nation adds to their criticisms. When President Bush was there, his stay lasted only half a day.

The Republicans used violence to say please be fair. And our concern at this moment should be the same as theirs. Tax cuts on wealthy top 2%. Top 1% owns 34.6% of wealth in the United States (2007).

President Obama spoke at a university in Indonesia. He spoke fondly of the area where he said he caught dragonflies. The audience welcomed when he uttered some sentences in Indonesian such as terima kasih (thank you) or salamat pagi (good morning). But when the President referred to matters related to Islam, they get serious.

President Obama's approval rate went up after the midterm election by 5%.

For minority whip position, James Clyburn (SC-D) and Steny Hoyer (MD-D) contend for the position. Rep. Ed Markey, Rep. Barney Frank, Rep. Niki Tsongas from Massachusetts, voiced supports for Rep. Hoyer.
