In Cancun, Mexico, COP16 or the United Nations Climate Change Conference ended on Saturday. At the conference, the extension of the Kyoto protocol was not agreed upon and the decision was put forward to the next conference. Japan opposed the measure on the basis that the United States and China, the worst emitters of the green house gases in the world, are not in the framework. The participating nations agreed upon the Green Fund run by the World Bank that pledges to raise $100 billion.
