The State of Union Address

President Obama addressed to the nation in his 2011 State of Union Address tonight.

What was the most shocking probably was that he literally declared that he would veto any bills that has earmarks in them. You should just feel the air among the lawmakers. It froze for a moment.

The next 'big thing' probably is that the President's declaration of making 80% of energy renewable by 2035. He mentioned the use of electric cars, and said the goal be manufacturing them in the United States, emphasizing they are already commercialized and sold in the market.

The talk sounded much more pragmatic and the least poetic this time, more down to earth, which literally means budget. The President said he would cut the budget by more than 12%. He said the healthcare costs are showing the sharpest increase and the new Healthcare Law help save the budget.

What was more like showing his ideology was about the foreign relations. President Obama said, America should shine as the beacon of the world. He referred to the North and said he allies with the South. No reference to Tibet. Nor Uyghur. Nor Burma. Nor Taiwan. Nor any specific human rights violations in China nor about copy rights issues.

The President congratulated the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq and the withdrawal plan in July from Afghanistan.

He refers to the bureaucratic red tape and declared to tackle the problems. He said, the housing is in the jurisdiction of one department when the salmon is in plain water and not in brine water.
