In his speech in the Middle East today, President Obama talked about the democratic transition of the area and the Palestine and Israel peace deals. He praised the democratic aspiration of people that demands the regime changes. He set out plans to establish an economic foundations there, he said, starting in Tunisia and Egypt. The US government is to nullify the debts and to invest in those countries along with EU and OPEC nations.
The President referred to the two state solutions between Palestine and Israel. He urged the Palestinians and to Hamas, who are the ruling power of the Gaza strip and who made peace with the Fatah recently, to accept the state of Israel and to abandon the use of force. The security of Israel must be secured, he said, and should be secured by its own forces. The President assured that the US is to recognize 1967 border deals between the two states.
It is a very courageous move for the US to support those 'democratic' aspirations when there seem to have been no side calling out for stability where the regime did change and where it has not, and when the oil prices seem to have been affected so much by the unrest, either by price gouging or speculations. The future prospect of the economic prosperity, without corruptions as properly addressed by the President as problems, seems to be a very optimistic view of the reality there. According to the President, the Egyptian revolutionary citizens are chanting calling out -- one Egypt, Muslims and Christians. Just recently in Egypt, the religious conflict resulted in deaths of its citizens, who are to have election in November.
The German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her support on the 1967 border.
The President Obama and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to meet in the White house on Friday.
