The Greek Parliament passed the austerity measures that cuts the budgets by 28 billion euros on Wednesday, by a vote of 155 to 136. The measures were the preconditions for the payment of 12 billion euros aid package from EU, IMF, and ECB. More than 10,000 people protested in Athens for the austerity measures. The passage paves the ways for the next aid package that could amount to more than 110 billion euros. The Greek and EU finance ministers will conduct a telephone meeting on July 2 to discuss the bailout.
In the UK, hundreds and thousands of teachers and unions went to the street in protest against the budget cuts. Tens of thousands of schools were closed and some public services, such as airports were affected by the strikes. The UK government announced 130 billion euro budget cuts over four years.
