OFA: Volunteer sign-up event for Obama re-election campaign

OFA -- Obama/Organizing for America -- held a volunteer sign-up event at Arlington Heights on Saturday. We come up to people and asked the people to sign up for volunteering. We would say,

"We are a part of Obama re-election campaign. We are asking people to participate for up-coming events. Will you sign-up for volunteering?"

I was glad to have the chance to talk to people about the campaign. I would like to thank those who signed up for registration. When they do, and even when they do not, I asked the question: "what do you think of Obama administration?"

Some people are most enthusiastic about President Obama. Although not signing up for volunteering "I will vote for him" a man said. "Well, I did vote for him and I will" another man said. Will you vote for him? "I will" said another, passing by. "His clean energy policies, environmental issues, and, social issues" said another while he was signing up.

Not all people are so enthusiastic. "I will wait and see", said a few people. "I will wait till I see what he does with the budget," they said. Jobs and economy, they told me, are the priority number one. "His ideas are good," a man said (he said he would vote for him). "I stick with him," she said. In fighting with special interests, he needs our support.

There are those who just can not bear hearing his name as well. They just show the frigid expression on their faces and pass by. The economy! The economy, they said. A person with a huge dog denounced the President's foreign policies. He happened to tell me I may not know things of the sort. Maybe I should not have but I sort of retorted -- I may know more about things outside of this nation and the US diplomacy is better than before. President Obama is more respected worldwide. He met with the Dalai Lama this morning.

It was a hectic day. I would like to thank Marcus, Tracy and Patrick for hosting this event, and all people participated especially in Arlington Heights. I phoned my friend in Boston who also participated in today's special sign-up event. She said she had people signed up there at an art festival. We have to go forward and get this event successful. We must get the whole campaign successful. We must get this administration successful. We must get his nation successful. Let us hope our voices will be reached to people and show that we can make a difference.
