This is a Petition Drive weekend at Palatine/Wheeling Township Democrats office. Sue Walton and Matt Flamm are there and we had 16 people went out for canvassing. Our goal is to gather 150 petitions for getting President Obama's name on the Illinois ballot.
Not only we got people signing for the President, we had people willing to volunteer for the campaign. If each finds one more volunteer, we will multiply the number 'in geometric progression'.
Sue told me about her race. She said she had met President Obama and said that he has sent a person to help her. She also said that her race was an expensive one and her family had suffered.
Unemployment is an important issue here since many have suffered from the joblessness. Richard and Kevin are ones that have been affected by the economical downturn. We talked about off-shoring business, and Duncan said in China there is no environmental protections. Marion , a former science teacher, agreed with the beauty of the Illnois natural surroundings. We called up people who did not show up. The turn out rate was very good.
Susanne was the first person to come back to office. She is a veteran in canvassing. Many canvassers said a lot of people were out of their home today. It was a warm and sunny.
Nancy was asking Duncan about his surgery. He said he will start working soon. He works at IBM and we talked about how those corporations have facilities in each state. The Sears headquarter is "asking the state the money" and threatening the state for laying off people.
