The US torture case

President Obama spoke at a press conference after APEC.

The President referred to the talk between US-China on many issues including copyrights, currency, and security. He said, he had a frank and candid conversation with the leaders on the US trade issues.

The President briefly referred to the Republicans' presidential candidates' debate on torturing and said it is 'wrong' to torture war prisoners to get the answers that they want.



The former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Treasury Hank Paulson were to visit the University of Chicago on Monday. The visit, however, has been postponed. The Occupy Chicago has called out for a protest against the visit.

The strategies of the previous and current administrations differ this much.

I say, it is a very smart move on their part insisting upon trade issues saying that all they want is business and are -- just -- trying to sell goods to the market. Say, that's something like 'now you are talking (that matters)'. That would be well understood and -- give them some hope that they indeed are human being after all however hostile and violent they may look at times.

Each year, the Chinese government burn tons of CD's and DVD's in a show of how it is coping with the copyright problems. The symbolic gesture of the government, however, has not been much to its citizens who sell and buy goods knowing that are fake. The President refer to the case with tire that has brought up to WTO, and emphasized that the illegal business customs should be dealt with and should be effectively as in this case.
