If they close their eyes on the Chinese oppression, half of the world, namely Asia, would be under dictatorship and the rule of the one party rule where there is no election.
Now China is not listening to the US demands on Iran for reasons.
If they want to spend their tax money, they must think of a way to fund it.
Is killing nuclear scientists ethical?
One argument goes that the scientists should be knowledgeable enough to know what they are doing, namely, creating technologies to kill people. The scientists are the technocrats of the nation. They should be vocal in opposing it if they think is unethical. Is this an act of defense to eliminate the risks before the missiles would be developed? Assassination is, less costly than an all-out war, or even drone attacks. What if the state targets any potential threats to the regime? Then again, could the regime blame on that particular point?
On the other hand, those scientists are merely working for the projects set by others. They are endorsed by the people on their part. They had to follow their orders; they would not be able to survive otherwise. Should they not be targeting who really is responsible instead? Is killing scientists less controversial than attacking journalists, whose friends are more vocal? Could the deaths of scientists go unnoticed? Would it be different from the attacks on military? Could their friends go on for a revenge attack? Is the assassination of scientists less of a concern than murdering the state officials, the leaders? Should it be less of a thing to mourn nationally?
The scientists should be, more knowledgeable, more conscientious, have more a say in the decision making processes, more vocal, more consequential socially and politically, and more known in order to stop those tragedies from happening, being targeted. Or create an environment that secures the well being. Yes, the scientists should denounce the attacks. They should place some retaliatory act on who are responsible. They should be mourned for what they have headed for and achieved, the advancement of sciences.
Let us mourn for the death of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan.
