What have they learned from the last year's debt ceiling crisis?

The Congress is expected to vote down the President's request to raise the debt ceiling by $1.2 trillion.

Because, who would ever want to see taxes going up? Without feasible plans to cut the spending, we should be vocal in opposing the measure. The Florida GOP Senator Marco Rubio said in a statement:

Instead of making debt ceiling increases a routine Washington exercise, we need to make it routine to actually spend no more than we take in. I will oppose a debt ceiling increase unless such an authorization is accompanied by a real plan to tackle our debt. Ideally, such a plan would feature both pro-growth elements and spending restraints, including fundamental tax reform, regulatory reform, meaningful cuts to discretionary spending, a balanced-budget amendment, and reforms to save Social Security and Medicare.
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure" said then a senator Obama from Illinois in 2006.

If then that no one wants the impending tax hikes, who are speaking up for the cause this time? This is like watching a silent film. They are talking, but the media is not reporting. Whoever has spoken up, seem to be silenced as well. You do not hear from them since.

The House Republicans, however, have expressed dissatisfaction on the management side on this issue. If everyone knows how bad it is, why no one is taking actions? Any plans? A Government shutdown?

The reality is, those who are concerned, have plans. That is to replace the whole management. Why would Mitt Romney, a Mormon, be running for the office? His character? His morals? His looks?

Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, successfully managed to get the state budget in order. He saved the Democratic state from bankruptcy by cutting spending, fixing loop holes, and raising fees. Along with his business skills at his company that created hundred of thousands jobs, all the hopes for now is to get the lawmakers to senses and balance the budget.

There should be the political calculations in this as well. If the debt ceiling goes, the Congress would not have to vote for it until the Presidential election is over. So why are they letting this chance go now? What are the deals? Earmarks, anyone? How could a taxpayer have a say in this? The government has to stop over-spending. It is our tax money.
