The UN Resolution on Syria; The Russian Protests; The Cold Spell in Europe


The UN voted on the resolution on Syria today; Russia and China vetoed it.  More than 300 were reportedly killed in the brutal government crackdown on Thursday.  The modified resolution does not refer to a regime change nor an arms embargo in an attempt to get the Russian and the Chinese support, which has been threatening to exercise its power to veto. 


Tens of thousands rallied against the Russian Prime Minister Putin in Moscow for fairer elections.  The election frauds were reported online as well as by the media within the country and abroad.  Meanwhile, a 'pro-government rally' was held in mass at the same time. 


The cold spell killed more than 260 people in Europe.  "Die Kältewelle" or "La vague de froid" has killed more than 167 in Poland and 122 in Ukraine.  The temperature dropped below -27 degree Celsius in Poland. 


The Micron's CEO Steve Appleton died in a plane crash on Friday.  He was to retire in August.  Micron is the only DRAM manufacturer in the US.
