Mali: Tuaregs declared a cease-fire

In Mali, Tuareg people occupy the northern part of the nation.  The colonial rules drew the border line right in the middle of the Tuareg region.  The Tuaregs took up the arms which they attained from the war in Libya to fight against the Mali government, which itself has been in turmoil facing the coup by its military.  Its President survived and reportedly talked on the phone in the former French colony.

The ECOWAS, Economic Community of West African States, responded to the coup by sanctions.  The UN is calling to denounce the ouster of the President.  All concerned should try arbitration among the Mali government, the military, and the Tuaregs.
