Gun control: a ban on assault weapons

The good news is that virtually everyone I talked to agreed with at least imposing Fedral ban on assault weapons.  Up till 2004, assault weapons such as the one the suspect used in the Aurora movie theater shooting was banned.  The law expired then and has not revived since.

Iulia: I was not afraid of going to the movie theater -- indeed I went to watch the Batman movie.  I agree with some gun control, and definitely on assault weapons.

Jose: I went to watch the movie as well after the shooting incident.  I told my friends to hit the floor when anyone starts out shooting.  I agree with some gun control.

Christine: (Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Sen. Diane Feinstein, Mayor Michael Bloomberg are among those who brought up the issue.)  Yes, we need to tell President Obama to press the issue, definitely.

Matt: Gun control, is absolutely a necessity.  Yet the NRA money and its people are the reasons why lawmakers are hesitant in bringing up the issue.  An executive order?  No.  I totally agree with you on that, however.

Matt: Yes, I know.  What do you think of it?  A ban on assault weapons?  Yes, I agree.

Darlene: We should have the laws.  It is the rifle that jammed that stopped him from further shooting.

Ann: It is a hot button issue for Republicans.  I do not think they want to bring up the issue.

Barbara: It is the alpha male ego, the show of it, that's what it is.  I do not think anything happens.  I do agree with placing gun control laws.

Maha: Yes, of course.  It is terrible.  It is because they make money for it.  Do you know why there are hospitals out there?  Why can we not cure all the diseases?  It is how all the doctors, nurses, and pharmaceutical companies make money.

We do need Federal bans on weapons.  The graduate student has no known relations with military personnel.  How should a graduate student have an access to military grade weapons?

Where people die many more than in Afghanistan, we should be calling out to impose stricter law enforcement to those in charge of the security of the city, first and foremost.
