The real grade report of the Obama Administration |
President Obama in his weekly address urged the states not to lay off teachers. In the last few years, more than 250,000 teachers are laid off. He insists that his job plan included funds from the federal government to rehire teachers.
Is it the teachers unions' money that he is talking about? Is he raising tax money from us in the same manner that he does at fundraising parties? Or is he talking about the opinion polls that say, he is considered to be better at education than Romney is?
But consider this. Governor Jerry Brown of California started out a campaign for Proposition 30 just recently. It asks for people to raise taxes for education. The state universities and schools are facing billions of cuts otherwise, the governor insists. Is the education not the foundation of the society?
It should be fair to say the President is more at the riches for the money in this case. But it is hard to do just that even when the majority support the idea. He has not been able to do that indeed. Instead, he borrowed money and was intended to borrow more for his job plans. The nation now is indebted to other nations at the amount of $5.29 trillion. This unsustainable path has brought some inevitable consequences to the economy, the tax hikes being the most detrimental to our lives.
Let us discuss the issue of education per se if we are to talk of education and not teachers. Why are the high school graduation rates so low in this nation? How should the equality be the norm rather than the most unfair wealth disparity? What motivates students to beat Romney-like kids at schools? Solutions might be bought but not education. While the Ryan plan may not offer solutions to problems in education, can our tax money solve the problems? If the lawmakers are to bring out the issue of education for an execuse for tax hikes out of overspending, let us fight back addressing the issue as it is.
