The Obama vs Romney rematch last night was held at the Hofstra University in NY. The moderator was Candy Crowley from CNN.
It could have been a fight between "tough challenges" vs "balanced or political strategies".
Challenges: Take the oil cases. The oil lobby is the toughest to fight against. The Obama Administration tried and failed to end the subsidies to oil companies. He said, "basically his plan is to let the oil companies write the energy policies".
Challenges: Romney insisted that he would create jobs by cutting taxes and regulations. "Jobs", he said. He said, half of the college graduates can not find jobs now and it is wrong. He boasted of his records of balanced budgets in the Olympic and in Massachusetts. "He promised to cut the deficits by half, and now it's doubled", he said. "I will balance the budget," he said.
Balanced: The teachers' union is a big sponsor of the Democrat Party. President Obama vowed to hire more math and science teachers. Higher education and better jobs, he said.
Challenges: President Obama repeated he will end the tax cuts for the riches. He is considerate enough to adding his or others' concerns of its effects on economy. The riches multiplied their income levels while the middle class income levels stay the same.
Challenges: The challenger Romney vowed to name China as a currency manipulator. He claimed that China does not observe the copyright laws.
Balanced: President Obama on his part claimed that Romney would be the last person who will get tough on China. He stated some jobs will never come back.
Challenges: Gov. Romney rightfully accused the Obama Administration not have been warned of the situation in Libya. I would like to add that the military has been hiding it to make it a successful case. He claimed that the President could not name it as an act of terror. Indeed, he named it a criminal case. Bombing other nations and collapsing the social structure and hoping to have peace among them or with other nations may be too optimistic on the part of people who happen to benefit from using forces, by lobbying money, contracts, and kickbacks.
There are challenges and at this point talking points on issues that concerns the nation not just those in Washington but the entire nation and the region, and the whole world. The challenges are something that can move this nation forward and they are what are good about the US and its democracy.
The tweets during this debate is slightly less at some 7 million. The peak was at President's comment on Romney's stance on China.
Let us hope the people here in the States will show good judgements on those issues and move us into new era.
