The US Senate voted unanimously for the Israeli attacks in Gaza.
Let me say I am thoroughly disappointed at all the senators. The Gaza War in 2008-2009 killed more than 1000 Palestinians. There were casualties on Israeli side as well. Why should they start a war in the most volatile region on earth?
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing an election in January. Could war be an incentive to vote for the right wing Likud? Will then the hundreds and thousands of the Palestine people be sacrificed for his election?
The UN assembled an emergency meeting. The next day Egypt has called for a UNSC meeting. President Obama talked to Netanyahu and Egypt's President Morsi on the phone. The delegates were sent from Egypt and Tunisia. Nations raised voices from Turkey, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and others denouncing the Israeli 'genocide', or the possible massacre to be.
The French President Francois Hollande in his statement denounced the unilateral Israeli attacks against the Gazan people. The Israeli forces bombarded the region and killed the Hamas leader Mahumud Ahmed Jabari. Since then, the Israeli cities have been attacked by rocket missiles, killing Israeli citizens.
How could the international community stop the Israeli aggression? There have been protests against in solidarity with Palestine in places such as DC, LA, Atlanta, Egypt, Malaysia, Tunisia, and London.
Let me use the word shame for all the senators voted for the Israeli attacks. Are they not for peace? The full-fledged military attacks for what reasons? Creating enemies of Israel AND the US?
Let us hope the democratic process on the street will have a voice that be heard those in Washington. Let us hope the international community will be able to stop the aggression and maintain peace, stability and prosperity.
