The flag of Palestine |
Some of the people in the world have funny ideas about nations outside their borders. The virtual America of their version would be like this: "Are you our allies? You can preemptively attack your neighbors. What? You do not like us? Then we will use military forces to stop -- or kill you."
But what they need to understand is that the US does not do anything against its own merits. The States does not say a word on the Tibet issues nowadays. What happens then if the 'merits' concern only a handful of people in Washington?
The UN General Assembly will vote on the Palestine status today. Many nations, including European nations voiced support for its non-member observer state status. Palestine would have the same status as Vatican does.
What repel those good people outside the border of the US, however, is perhaps their lack of ethics, the ethics of their version. A dog is humiliating in some places on earth. There are places where talking to different class is unethical.
The Arab Spring has brought the region the very idea of democracy that enable the voices of people to be heard against the tyranny of the powerful voices from Tel Aviv backed by Washington. Let us hope the Palestine people will take the 'wills' of the international community and the UN in granting the status to calls for responsibility to maintain laws and orders of the region for peace, stability, and prosperity.
