French hostages freed; battery technology; on security

- The French hostages that were held in Cameroon were freed.  French President Francois Hollande announced the news on Friday, and that they are freed with the cooperation with the nations and the international community. 

- A report from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign says it developed a new types of lithium battery that can hold 1000 more charges.  The porous anode/cathode lined in nano scale can be charged much more quickly and can last longer. 

- In case of hostage crisis, you would expect the nation to protect you from harms of the terrorists.  It is one of the change that you feel you are glad to be a citizen of the state.  What if the government says we also side with the criminals and not going to protect you? The government loses its credibility. 

Without security, insurance, medical expenses, security go up as well as taxes, which is detrimental to all economic activities.  Most of all, the government loses its credibility, thus lowers the sense of national unity.  If the nation can not safeguard the lives of its citizens, how should you expect them to claim the feels of pride of being a citizens of the state?
