Just when the President said that Guantanamo should be closed, it is about the terrorist threats again. Whenever the President takes up issues of humanity or peace, or even security, they seem to threaten the people with fearful terrorist attacks.
It is simply inhumane to keep those 166 prisoners now over 11 years in prison. Some have cleared the charges. The indefinite detention and torture is undermining the US credibility as the President said.
What has Obama achieved thus far? But again that exactly is the question. No one wants to credit the President for anything and that is the sole motive of their taking political stances. They are to claim that you voted for elusive ideals aka lies that have been handed out to us by beautiful rhetoric. Did we worked for and voted for a lame duck? Are we gotten off our minds just because of the billion dollar campaigns? Empty rhetoric, Democratic media machine, with friendly greetings, are not enough to run the $3.8 trillion budget.
If comments are free then performance are even more priceless.
...it's not sustainable. I mean, the notion that we're going to continue to keep over a hundred individuals in a no man's land in perpetuity, even at a time when we've wound down the war in Iraq, we're winding down the war in Afghanistan, we're having success defeating al-Qaida core, we've kept the pressure up on all these transnational terrorist networks, when we've transferred detention authority in Afghanistan -- the idea that we would still maintain forever a group of individuals who have not been tried -- that is contrary to who we are, it is contrary to our interests, and it needs to stop.If Obama can not find the middle ground as an arbitrator, he is not fit for the job. I have not seen any sign that he can for that matter. Then he needs to employ someone who can. I have not known any either.
It is not even a year passed since the last election. Tell the do-nothing Congress to work. Tell people who voted for him that their votes count. The President has the people's back. This is a democratic nation. We have the right to speak out, not those in Washington. After all, they are spending $3.8 trillion of our tax money. People should have the power not the Washington lobbyists. Not the right-wing extremists.
Let's stop hoping. It consumes our energy and distract our efforts from something that really can get done.
