On Healthcare Reforms

I talked to a volunteer at the store.  We work together.  She has been vocal in insisting upon the evilness of the Boston bomber.  She expresses her disgust in such a way that is indescribable.

"We have a lot to say about this healthcare reform," she said.  "We had to change our doctor."

She gets rather heated in emphasizing how bad this whole thing is.  What about the medical costs, though?  Is it not too high at this moment?  We need some governmental oversight, I said.

"It is expensive.  We are paying for it.  It will derail the economy," she said. "More employers are dropping people and cutting hours."

I felt being compelled to say we need healthcare and that the companies should cover the costs.  We can not leave people uninsured.  How else can we mandate healthcare insurance to all people?  We will be paying for the costs anyway if they use emergency units.

"I do not know the answers," she assured me.
