Press conference: President Obama and Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan

President Obama had a press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan on Thursday.

He started out saying "Turkey is the best friend of the United States" or something of that sort.  The Prime Minister listened his comments calmly without any facial expression.

Is this a scare tactics, to embarrass the Prime Minister?  His constituents would love to hear this.  They will be calling him a traitor, a friend of Israel.

The President then contained on with the strong ties with the US and Turkey.  He said, the trade with Turkey doubled and the economic ties are ever stronger.

Now I could hear the Turkish opponents of the Prime Minister crying out to the crowd "Corruption!  Bought!  Puppet!".

His comments on the talk ended with just that.  Appraisal of the 'business' between the both nations and 'friendship' that should help the political situations in the region.  He said, "We understand" what sort of damages the terrorism brings to the nation.  He referred to PKK.

"PKK just has announced that it abandoned its military hostile tactics", I was rather angered at his insensitivity.  Is he to ignore all the move from their side?  Or is this just to show the political alliance with Turkey?  How then in the whole world is he to bring peace in the region?

The United States is the world number one economy.  No matter how the Administration take the policies of non-interference, it will have the impact throughout the world.  Turkey is one of the most successful secular Islamic nations.

In answering the question from the reporter, the Turkish Prime Minister said he is to visit Gaza in the future, which is opposed by Secretary Kerry.  President Obama briefly referred to Palestine which was recognized as an observer state in the UN General Assembly.

There was no word from both leaders on Guantanamo.
