Yes we can; Yes we scan

President Obama gave a speech to German audience on Wednesday.  The German trip is the first since his successful re-election bid last December.  In Berlin where the speech was held, the protesters hold signs that say: Yes We Can.

Can we?  Can he?  Could he?  He sure can raise money.  And we sure voted for him.  For what?

The President spoke about peace in his speech, and expressed his commitment on his continuing efforts toward building platform for peace negotiations.  The world is facing grave challenges.  Yet again, the greatest threat is coming from the the 'greatest' nation on earth.  Are we to start another war in the Middle East?

How can we?  How can he?  The former senator that opposed the Iraqi war yet again talking about using forces?

War is costly.  Having spent trillions on wars, the nation is in huge debts, now over $16 trillion.  Do we have political settlement on budget cuts yet, instead of the 'sequester'?

At home, the NSA scandals rattle the nation. Criticisms come from even his liberal allies as well.

Yes we scan, says the sign.

The scandals and criticisms, and do-nothing congress ... is he to settle down with the criticisms from around the globe: Obama is a disappointment?  Do we know the answers already?

In his speech, Obama briefly mentioned Guantanamo.  The German audience applauded.  The US torture on abducted prisoners is indeed a human rights issue.  More than 100 prisoners are on hunger strike.

Let us hope, after this costly European tour -- costing us tens of millions of our tax money -- we gained support from across the Atlantic, at least on the direction of our dear lame duck president.  Let us hope we could pursue the way of peace, stability, and prosperity.
