OFA, or Organizing for Action had a guest speaker from the Illinois state House, Representative Elaine Nekritz in Arlington Heights, IL.
We talked of gun issues, and the NRA's influence. We need to raise our voices, and we need to connect with people who are on this issues nationwide. The gun background check bill will be taken up at the Senate in coming months.
Another popular topic was the state budget. "We need to pass pension reform. We need work out a solution. It cost us tens of millions of dollars," Rep. Nekritz said. "Say, the bill is bipartisan," Rep. Nekritz emphasized. "and we need to time to cool off."
