July 4th is a day of festivity. My friends and I went out to watch the spectacle out in the sky. The sparkles that only briefly last in the sky, and the grandeur of them tell us of life: what shines does not last for a long time; that the brevity of life appeals to us even more.
With the equal excitements and festivity of the Independence, the Egyptian people elected Morsi as their President. Now by a military coup, he is ousted. The military suspended its newly installed constitution as well. The interim President is a former supreme Chief Justice Adly Mansour.
The democratically elected parliament, 75% of its members being Islamists, has been a disappointment to its people and to the world. The people that ousted the long time dictator Mubarak are not the same people who took the power over in the legislative and executive branches. Are they to restore democracy in the nation?
The military vowed to set up another election in coming days.
