The Trayvon Martin's parents spoke on the trial of George Zimmerman and expressed 'shock' the verdict not guilty. Finding no fault on the side of the self-proclaimed neighborhood watch who took justice into his hands is indeed horrible.
On the other hand, there are criticisms of this case and how it is handled in the media. "I'm sick of it," D. declared to me. M. said to me; no Trayvon is not an angel, either. Just like this:
We suffered a great loss (crying) ... (hands out asking for money)
Trayvon Martin's parents threaten to sue the Homeowners Association and the case was settled by a million payout to the victim's family. Again, where is justice here? The association reportedly settled with payments for fear that any trials would damage their properties.
Now his parents claim that they were shocked by the verdict on George Zimmerman. His father happens to be the one who said earlier that the recorded voice was not Trayvon's, which could have had impact on at least the opinions of people out there.
So where are the laws? Yes, there are laws. The 2005 "Stand Your Ground" law made it not guilty on the Zimmerman's side, according to a jury. The law says you have no obligation to retreat in face of threat that might lead to deaths of people.
There are protests against "Stand Your Ground" law. Stevie Wonder has declared just recently he would not perform in states that have the laws. While the trial did not end in Martin's winning the case, it may affect the people's opinion about the law.
