The Obama Administration and IT

President Obama spoke on how its Administration incorporate IT technologies in their systems.

In terms of the social acceptance, the recognition of the social aspects of IT by the state is nothing more than a blessing.  It is not too easy to explain computers are not the enemy of mankind and that helps us move forward.  The new technologies can easily be transformed into monstrous entity that destroys our traditional ways of life.

The US government under the Obama Administration is probably the most advanced in the use of technologies.  The President's team is the pioneer in this field in the use of the SNS in the elections.  The campaign literally change the world not only of politics but of the Internet and computing.  It also gave us the tool to speak up on political issues and get the information through different channels from traditional big-money TV programs.

Let's say the Obama campaign certainly was the most modern and innovative way to run for an office.  How then would that help run the government?  Can the Hollywood-made election machine transform into a powerful entity that can tell the Congress where it should be going? How do the people's voices be reflected in the actual law-making processes?  Where is his promise to change Washington?  While we now have clearer pictures of how it is flawed in the way the Congress is doing its businesses having its approval rates as low as below 20%, what measures are we taking to make the change that we could have some laws passed in the Congress?  The lawmakers vote in accordance with the money that they receive even when it might cost them the election, or human lives for that matter.

The President announced the Administration's plan to make more efficient systems to run the government.  More data will be available to public at data.gov.  We know already that we can get somewhat updated information from the administration via Tweets, Facebook posts, and e-mails.  The President touted the new system can make it easy to get aids from the government.

While it is fine that those in need are benefiting from our tax systems, how does that help our businesses and economy?  Why is it not that that helps businesses in that expedite licensing processes etc?  Where does our tax money go?  We now have a tool to know how our money is spent.  The last row of that table shows how much we pay for the interests from borrowed money part of it coming from China.
