The undisclosed, unlimited corporate money affects our elections |
If not with the voting machines and the corporate money, we still have problems with the groups of people that actually vote and participate in the election. The voter ID laws are in many parts of the country discourage the minority voters by requiring stringent verification processes. The numbers show more poor people vote for Democrats; the majority of minority groups voted for President Obama; Democrats get more women votes than Republicans do. Just yesterday, in the Virginia gubernatorial race where McCauliffe had won, the reports say even when the white voted for Cuccinelli, the Republican opponent, he lost the election just by a few percentage points. The minority votes count, and the trend is getting even more obvious. The election laws should support people for voting, not against.
If not the voting laws, we still have problems with redistricting. Why should the lawmakers choose the constituents? We should choose who we vote for. Let the lawmakers hear our voices for free, fair and transparent elections.
