Unemployment Rate |
The visit will coincide with the crucial time for Japan's Abe administration that enjoy somewhat one of the highest support rates in recent history. The government just raised the consumption tax in April, and would hope to get support from the US, which is essential for the political support from the business community. So far, the economy is in an excellent condition. Not many nation on earth can enjoy 3.6% unemployment rate. While over time work is a chronic social problem there, which can be fatal at times, employment is essential for health economy and society. The employment, indeed is the social inclusion.
As a consequence, or for other reasons, the crime rate in Japan is absolutely very low, including gun related crimes. The US base there is always the cause of extreme concern of the people there, while giving the feels of security of the region protecting from the threats from China, which has been spending more and more on military. Every year, the military expenses of China go up by over 10%, officially.
Japan is a proud nation with high level of education, and more or less stable society. It means, everybody can read, write, and calculate, without exception, making the communication easy and subtle, even termed as "by telepathy". The competition among students is tough but is somewhat fair in terms of it being rather independent of how much they have, or spend. Their problem is in the bureaucracy and how cunningly it has created systems of wasting tax money for the system itself. Public employees make much more money than in the States, and are respected accordingly. For that reason or other, workers in public sector do not have the right to go on strike, the reason being they can go on forever boycotting without risking their jobs.
Like any of other developed nations, the universal healthcare provides even more the feels of security of the people, especially among the elderly. Japan enjoys the highest longevity in the world. Warmer climate, stable society, fairer wealth distribution and the healthcare system in which you would not have to worry about the cost of calling ambulance or going to doctors for such symptoms as slight discomfort may be attributed for the statistics. Providing healthcare is a right of people, should not a privilege.
The stability can affect the business climate positively and negatively. The breakthrough may indeed be expected to come from the United States. Let us hope the President visit will be beneficial to both parties.
