"The sense of helping others," said T., "helped me go through the financial crisis". "I was in the military, I was in the financial sector, and I was ready to give up everything. The financial crisis took up everything from me", he said. "Then I got a call. It was for an interview for my volunteering work. God was playing a joke on me. After the interview, I felt I could make it, that managed the finance and get it through."
That was a talk from the Volunteer Appreciation Party by Sparrow's Nest, a volunteering organization that runs a recycle shop.
I was thinking about what he said at the party, as I filed my tax form 2013. The sense of helping others indeed, is something that can get us going writing checks for the local and federal government.
