The Obama Administration authorizes use of surveillance drones over Syria. Surveillance for what? Military targets?
Another Iraq war?
Iraq war left huge amount of debt which this nation still struggling from, and thousands of casualties of war and more injured of the war without any clear objective other than 'democratic Iraq'.
The last US air-raids were conducted under the name of 'saving the minority group'. President Obama spoke on this issue. Then the military target shifted not to save the minority, but saving the dam.
Interestingly, the opinion polls followed the move. Namely, the majority supported the bombing, then opposed sending aids nor rescue team. By the time the US fighter jets were bombing around the dam area, the only reaction from the public is this: the US has bombing the region for decades. Bombing for decades? Has anyone assessed the effects of such an ineffective, let's say, mass murder conducted by the US military? Bombing/Killing like forever? How could they blame that rebels have wide recruiting network? We are offering exactly what they need: constant reminder that the US is the enemy and killing their people. Just recently, Israel added even more incentive for signing up for the militant group by the mass murder in Gaza. Unarmed innocent and helpless citizens being bombed and killed by the "closest ally of the US in the region". What more do you need for jihadist recruitment?
Now the Obama Administration is reportedly pondering whether the US would bomb Syria. What does bombing do? Or bombing like forever? Here is a warning from the anti-government groups: bombing in Syria will only 'tickle' the militant group.
There is the alternative far worse than bombing. The ground invasion, however, will cost both money, and human resources. The Iraq War cost trillions of our tax money. And there again the question: what is the objective of such aggression? Which side are we taking this time, Shia or Sunni? Military support for Iran, or Islam world as a whole?
The White House denies the US mainland is under threat by the rebels. The US surely is by no means under the threat of either group. Ironically, while they are at war, the US would not be of their concern.
The supposed ultimate objective of "democratic Syria" will not be achieved by bombing nor ground invasion. Let us hope just this time, the US will not start yet another Iraq War in the Middle East. Let us hope the Israel/military lobby will not buy or threaten our lawmakers into taking such pathways that only leads to destruction, murder, and chaos.
