The Grand Jury announced that the police officer Darren Wilson who fatally shot teenager Mike Brown will not be indicted. The officer reportedly chased Brown and shot him. Officer Wilson is in the process of being removed from the police department. Police should never kill a citizen, it defies the meaning of their existence, as President Obama says. Is he serious about changing the law?
If the President claims how screwed up the legal system then he has all the power to change it. He can reduce the budget of the department for that particular location, he can even set up a law that mandates policemen for more stringent screening for employment, etc. There even can be a quota system. Most effective one should making phone calls to the local leaders, by him himself or by someone else whoever can negotiate a solution, if there is such a thing.
The whole thing about the equality under the law is seemingly directed at nowhere. The announcement was made at prime time and broadcasted on TV. The media picked it up rather quickly. Is it the sort of civil movement that they are expecting to happen?
