A sunny spring day after the rain, and the green leaves are just coming out, and there are flowers already on the ground. Weeks ago, they were holding their leaves in a way that looked like samurai warriors.
There is this splendid mushroom in the woods. It is called pheasant back. It is as big as a succor ball, white inside and beneath, and has dark brown scales on its top. The contrast of the dark chocolate rich scales and fresh white makes it look indeed like pheasant feathers.
