Now we are in the election season. The Democratic Party Presidential Debate is scheduled on Tuesday in Nevada. CNN will be hosting the debate, and Anderson Cooper will be the moderator.
The debate is important not just for the public show. The direction of the debate will shape the next president's agenda. If not for the contender, we'd be still -- in huge debt, or in yet another war, or the middle class tax cuts would have been expired.
What would be the agenda? Hillary Clinton just recently spoke on gun issues. What it means is very clear. Hillary needs the votes from the supporters of her party, which officially has been supporting anti-NRA rhetoric.
Her stance may indeed contrasts well with Obama's if she can convince the voters that she can do better. Apart from issuing sorry comments on rampage, the President has not done much in terms of regulating gun sales be it online or gun shows. Tens of thousands die each year by guns.
Even though the victims are pressing the lawmakers, if this debate is not coming up, no one will be talking about the issue. This time, however, because the Connecticut Governor Malloy stated his plans, because of the debate is coming up, Hillary spoke up on this issue.
I am always amazed at the vitality of those lawmakers energized just to beat up the opponents. This time, as the debate is coming up, the hope is they indeed are motivated for taking up the issue and #DoSomething. We need responsible consciensious leaders that can make streets safer. The debate can make it clear how the future President plans on governance.
