The Failed Coup

A year ago, on July 15 2016, the failed coup in Turkey took all the people by a surprise. The footage of the coup, the air raids, the tanks, and military style executions, shows how the coup cost the lives of hundreds of Turkish citizens. What it tells us is not only about the violence by the military. It shows how the people in Turkey stood up against the violence by 'democratic' means. He's "testing conscience" said a man that stood in front of tanks.
Since the coup, Turkish President Erdogan has been accused of his tough stance against the Gulenists. Indeed, restoring the civilian control is more essential than arresting the oppositions. Here is this, however. What could protect the people in Turkey? Which side will NATO be? The EU?
