THIS is how we win. It takes a movement—it starts with all of us making our voices heard to change FL! 🌊 #flapol pic.twitter.com/z0wFzEnLbI
Philip Levine is a former mayor of Miami Beach. He was elected with an overwhelming support. He stood firm on climate issues; which is a feat considering the purple state of Florida is now under the Republican governor. "Levine? I am all for protecting our planet from the climate change" is a comment from a voter.
Campaigning is not always easy. The people involved may not be nice; they could be ignorant and rude, or even harasses you. They may look at you with suspicions. They might not let you have opinions, forcing theirs.
Racial discrimination is an issue, a voter said. On such a hot Saturday, who is working? The racial disparity is pretty clear here. "She's working today", said a voter. In her neighborhood, Spanish is dominant. Raising the minimum wage is Levine's agenda.
Race is always a problem; the police violence is a problem. As a mayor, Levine put body cameras and appointed Lauretta Hill as Deputy Chief.
It was an honor to work alongside Deputy Chief Lauretta Hill in Miami Beach. Together, we fought racism, brought the community & police closer, and saw crime drop.
