Craig Brewer was shot dead because his benevolent deed angered him. Craig was picking up tabs as a good Samaritan act. Then some customer complained he is not fair. Another individual took up his gun and shot him.
This unusual and not so unusual scene in Florida Waffle House ended up in a tragedy. Because he was carrying his gun with him.
You could fathom the state of mind looking at his actions. You could say disparity always brings uneasiness, anger, and in this case, could end up in a tragedy. The humiliation of belittled by someone or something that you do not recognize as being worthy of authority, can drive people mad. As mad as organizing a riot, creating social movement, or talking about equality and justice. Or, bringing out -- guns.
This is not even any sophisticated working of mind sets. The instinctive and ready action facing the inequality is anger. If the beautiful Florida coastline is blocked by expensive mansions and blocks you out, if your hard work of an year only garners a month of their salaries, if IT industry is governed by male logic ("just a simple question"), you'd feel the anger. That is not fair. Your value is being questioned. You should insist upon your rights.
