The plastic pollution is a serious problem around the globe. As the emerging nations gain more economic power, the amount of plastic use goes up beyond their capacity.
The UN last year put out a plan that bans plastic bags and silverware (*). Companies such as 7-Eleven announced that they will eliminate the use of plastic bags entirely (*).
The US Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory designed recyclable plastic called PDK (poly-diketoenamine), which dissolves in strong acid and can be recycled (*).
The biodegradable plastic already is in use. For any that uses 3D printer would be using PLA filament, which is made from the sugars in starch.
