President Trump at DMZ

President Trump will be at DMZ shortly. The President stated he would welcome the opportunity for meeting with North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un. The North's Foreign Minister responded with interests.

President Trump has won the trust of people by his flat refusal upon the North's inaction on the promises of denuclearization. The President literally has left a clear signal that he wants a definite deal. In this regard, the people's expectations differ greatly from his predecessors.

While Kim's position at home would be safe regardless, the people in North Korea may have expected better results such as lifting sanctions and expressed disappointment. And North's sympathizers in South Korea and Japan again have expressed their extreme views in recent days.

The gesture of reopening the negotiation may or may not satisfy his base at home, yet is a sign of progress toward the 'right direction' for those looking for diplomatic solution. The nuclear issues should not be the excuse for creating scapegoat for the show of the America's greatness, even for the election.
