All religion talk of peace. Yet the differences in the religious beliefs bring the most tragic conflicts around the globe. If not the religious sect is not the responsible party, then the secular political affiliation uses the authority for its own purposes. If Iraq is a Christian nation and if the evangelicals are not around, the Bush Administration would not have started the devastating war that resulted in hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths and thousands of the allies' soldiers' deaths. And of course, the war comes with an exorbitant price tags. Trillions of our tax money have spent on the war that brought us nothing but destruction.
The war, especially backed up by the religious authority, can get the popular supports readily, however. The reports of 'oppressed' citizens generates the religious zeal. Those that have never been outside the border can easily talked into the ways of thinking of 'exterminating the evil' 'forever', aka 'final solution', the term used by the Nazis. Eliminating the entire group of people in different religion should properly called genocide.
The war campaign came with the narrow nationalism and religious prejudice. 'Secure border', however, cannot prevent terrorism. The terrorism can only be prevented if our streets are safer, secured. We'd be risking our lives anyway without, by terrorism or crimes. What motivates the religious sect? Could Religion Kill?
It is often the religious motives bring the worst humanitarian disaster. Protecting what they believe is the righteous almighty, the violence pursues. The pious Hindu people oppresses the people in Kashmir. The Indian government abrogated Article 370; the protests have been such that they now are under the military control.
The humanitarian crisis is dire. The stores are closed as the military beats up the people in public. The media blackout blocked us from watching people protesting against the military occupation. There are complaints that they do not have medicines for the hospitals. All this is not reported in the mainstream media.
This situation provided the most favorable opportunities for Islamic extremists online. Wherever Kashmir is mentioned online, there are posts that calls out for support for the oppressed by, in this case, India and other Western nations that ignores and supports the tyranny by the power. The victims, the martyrs, the oppression, the poverty, and the injustice, all match what the prophets predicted. The calls for resistance against the secular, corrupt, and inhumane violent oppressors only feeds the hatreds.
We only can fight against terrorism by getting people on our side, not by bombing, not by ignoring this gross humanitarian crisis.
