As the US strike on Iran killed the Iranian general Quassim Soleimani, the world is holding breath on the aftermath of the 'terrorist' attack, as designated by the Iranian parliament. The Iranian government vowed that they will oust the foreign troops out of the region. The US forces 'received' a letter ordering the withdrawal while the allies moved troops out of the region.
Is the killing of a general an act of terrorism?
Mrs Obama reportedly opposed killing Osama bin Ladin claiming that makes the US a terrorist nation. That claim did not go far as the Republicans did not oppose the idea and the lame Democrats went silent. If they dared not oppose the most popular political figure at that time, will they pose a fair judge this time?
Flying over the territorial sky of a sovereign nation and kill the local general, or 'militants', or civilians, should it termed as terrorism? What is different about the bombardment from above by killing the general rather than the militants (aka civilians dead) is in that the former could turn a bit more effective than murdering the civilians with or without the aim of harming the US.
Evidently, killing Osama bin Ladin is nothing but retaliation, which may or may not have appeased disgruntled military and hardliners. Or rather, it meant nothing but the appeasement of the political
opponents. It certainly is not a war strategy. What of killing Soleimani?
In Tehran, hundreds of thousands of people joined the public mourning. Has the general a fearful figure as claimed that scared off even the political body? As the US military wing scared off Obama into killing Osama bin Ladin? What is the strategy here?
